Why choose QRdx over Scanova?
The areas where QRdx is the stronger pick. The guide below also covers where Scanova is the better choice.
Free plan instead of a 14-day deadline
Scanova's pricing page says a dynamic QR code will stop working once the free trial ends. QRdx has no trial: the Free plan includes 10 dynamic codes that keep working for as long as you like.
Unlimited codes for less
Scanova's Standard plan is $420 a year for 50 dynamic codes. QRdx Pro is $48 a year for unlimited dynamic codes and hosted pages.
API on every plan
Scanova's API is part of Enterprise. QRdx's REST API is available on every plan, with bulk creation on Pro and an MCP server for AI assistants.
Seats and domains included
QRdx Business includes unlimited members and 25 custom domains for $144 a year. Scanova charges extra per user and per domain beyond the Pro plan's allowance.
QRdx or Scanova: which should you use?
Scanova and QRdx both make dynamic QR codes with unlimited scans, hosted pages and analytics. Scanova sells annual plans priced by the number of dynamic codes, after a 14-day trial. QRdx has a permanent free plan and monthly or yearly paid plans with unlimited codes.
Who each tool is for
Scanova suits organisations that buy software annually and want a vendor with an Enterprise tier. Its list prices are annual: Basic is $5 a month ($60 a year) for 3 dynamic codes, Lite $9 a month ($108) for 10, Standard $35 a month ($420) for 50 and Pro $75 a month ($900) for 500, with 5 users and 1 custom domain included on Pro.
QRdx suits individuals, small businesses and teams that want to start free and grow without per-code pricing. Free includes 10 dynamic codes and 3 hosted pages; Pro ($5/mo or $48/yr) makes both unlimited; Business ($15/mo or $144/yr) adds unlimited members, webhooks, conversion tracking and white-label pages.
Where Scanova is the better choice
- Enterprise procurement. If your organisation needs an Enterprise contract with a custom quote, Scanova offers one. QRdx has self-serve plans and a self-hosting option, not a sales-led Enterprise tier.
Key differences
- Trial versus free plan. Scanova's pricing page states that a dynamic QR code will stop working once the free trial ends. QRdx has no trial, and under the Never-Hostage Guarantee dynamic codes keep redirecting on every plan, including after a downgrade or cancellation.
- Billing. Scanova lists annual prices only. QRdx bills monthly or yearly.
- Per-code pricing. Scanova's plans are defined by dynamic code count (3 to 500). QRdx Pro and Business have no code limit.
- Extra seats and domains. Scanova charges $60 per extra user and $120 per extra domain a year on Pro. QRdx Business includes unlimited members and 25 domains.
- Openness. QRdx is AGPL-3.0 open source and can be self-hosted. Scanova is closed source.
Switching from Scanova
- Find out which Scanova codes are in print and whether they stay active on your current plan; they redirect through Scanova.
- Create QRdx codes for new print runs. Existing Scanova short links can't be moved to QRdx.
- Rebuild hosted pages in the QRdx page editor and test each code on real phones before printing.

- 2
Upload the CSV to Dashboard → Codes → Import and check the column mapping.
- 3
Preview and import. Download the mapping CSV of old link → new QRdx link.
Printed codes
Scanova codes live on Scanova's own domain, so QRdx can't change them: re-point each one to its new QRdx link (the mapping CSV lists them) and keep that account active until you reprint.
